Movie Stills – Enteng 10
One thing I really enjoyed about my job is capturing movie stills because it means working with kick-ass cinematographer like Ms. Lee Briones Meily and one of the directors that I truly admire, Marlon Rivera.
Posh Shoot
Shoot quite a number of beautiful posh ladies today and this photo pretty sums up how I feel every time I have a camera in my hand and I’m shooting someone so alive and lovely…and someone who will make baliw-baliwan pose just for “picture tayo” request 🙂
Anyway, here’s the BTS video 🙂
My 2015 Notes
My 2015 notes…Carpe diem…Surprise yourself and do something different for the first time…Pursue that thing that sets your soul on fire and do that “F” word to yourself…which is forgive…something that I tried everyday instead of being too harsh to self…forgive yourself for the wrong grammar, missed punctuations, missed deadlines, missed shots, for the imperfections, for trusting wrong people, for walking away when you’ve had enough of others’ shit and following your dreams, then move on and live another day…for there are seasons when we can’t do anything but to trust the process and have faith that we will not miss anything that are meant for us…for there are days that we can say that the “struggle” is real (such as being an introvert in an extrovert world, or finding self as the center of joke of people waiting for you to have a social media “fairy tale stories” while you are great with gypsy life)Â and there’s nothing that we can do but to remind ourselves that before anyone got an opinion, you got a purpose…and there will be days when the only thing that we can do is be still, breathe and if it will make you feel good, say out loud the first “F” word that you can think of.
Vice Ganda Concert Coverage
Not the first time to do a concert coverage but this is the first time that I covered a concert from Day 1 of preparation, (from press conference, rehearsal to final event)…from early morning call times to late night coverage, this was definitely a memorable experience. Â I had never looked at concert production people who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to come out with a well-planned concert to ensure the buyers’ money worth. Â On stage, they will see ONE artist pouring out her heart for a performance…but in reality, that one artist was a composition of multi-talented artists, that one was made up of ideas, lyrics, late night random thought, liters of coffee and large dosage of various inspirations.
When you’re a nameless photographer staying backstage, random people (celebrities included) will surprise you in both good and bad ways! Ha! I have to remind myself at times that my business is about building and creating instead of destroying some people. And it is great to find out why some people remain on top, no matter how much dirt some people will throw at them, I was all smiled when “The” Ms. Vicky Belo smiled at me and even courteously waited on the side beside me outside Vice Ganda’s backstage room, one of those few people who actually acknowledge my presence by not blocking what I’m shooting instead of the “I don’t know you so I will stop in front of whatever you’re shooting and block your view” attitude. I guess money is not really a measurement of one’s worth as a person, it will always be on how you treat other people when you got the advantage. Got to end my journal here and time to browse some random snaps (since I can’t check all of the numerous photos for all those days of documenting) of the experience.
Batanes
the plane fare to batanes is quite pricey and the assigned driver (manong joey) informed me that it is part of the strategy in controlling the number of tourists…and i think it’s a good strategy, for one can really enjoy the view for it is not really crowded and one can have enough time to paint a good memory.
the food servings were quite overwhelming at first sight. the lobster that may cost a thousand here in manila only cost a hundred or two. however, the food can be so bland and the locals need to learn on how to play with the spices. Â the only food that i enjoy was the food served at fundacion pacita. and again, manong joey informed me that the abad’s hire a chef in manila to train the chef at fundacion. (ps. just visited toby’s estate and the brownies that they’re selling is similar to the brownies being served at fundacion pacita).
according to manong joey, batanes got zero road accident and even before text language became popular they already have “blow ur horn” as a popular road sign.
got an extra treat from manong joey (who is such a good tour guide too), on the second time that i visited fundacion for breakfast, he showed me the “great road of batanes” (which is not yet included in the usual itinerary) wherein you can literally overlook the entire basco, batanes island.
most of the shots were taken while inside the moving car, for two days were not enough to explore batanes that can’t say stop and stare for every beauty that one can see while in a moving car.
the three days of not having internet access were all worth it. one day, i’ll go back and create new memories again.
