Shoot quite a number of beautiful posh ladies today and this photo pretty sums up how I feel every time I have a camera in my hand and I’m shooting someone so alive and lovely…and someone who will make baliw-baliwan pose just for “picture tayo” request 🙂

My 2015 notes…Carpe diem…Surprise yourself and do something different for the first time…Pursue that thing that sets your soul on fire and do that “F” word to yourself…which is forgive…something that I tried everyday instead of being too harsh to self…forgive yourself for the wrong grammar, missed punctuations, missed deadlines, missed shots, for the imperfections, for trusting wrong people, for walking away when you’ve had enough of others’ shit and following your dreams, then move on and live another day…for there are seasons when we can’t do anything but to trust the process and have faith that we will not miss anything that are meant for us…for there are days that we can say that the “struggle” is real (such as being an introvert in an extrovert world, or finding self as the center of joke of people waiting for you to have a social media “fairy tale stories” while you are great with gypsy life) and there’s nothing that we can do but to remind ourselves that before anyone got an opinion, you got a purpose…and there will be days when the only thing that we can do is be still, breathe and if it will make you feel good, say out loud the first “F” word that you can think of.

Not the first time to do a concert coverage but this is the first time that I covered a concert from Day 1 of preparation, (from press conference, rehearsal to final event)…from early morning call times to late night coverage, this was definitely a memorable experience. I had never looked at concert production people who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to come out with a well-planned concert to ensure the buyers’ money worth. On stage, they will see ONE artist pouring out her heart for a performance…but in reality, that one artist was a composition of multi-talented artists, that one was made up of ideas, lyrics, late night random thought, liters of coffee and large dosage of various inspirations.
When you’re a nameless photographer staying backstage, random people (celebrities included) will surprise you in both good and bad ways! Ha! I have to remind myself at times that my business is about building and creating instead of destroying some people. And it is great to find out why some people remain on top, no matter how much dirt some people will throw at them, I was all smiled when “The” Ms. Vicky Belo smiled at me and even courteously waited on the side beside me outside Vice Ganda’s backstage room, one of those few people who actually acknowledge my presence by not blocking what I’m shooting instead of the “I don’t know you so I will stop in front of whatever you’re shooting and block your view” attitude. I guess money is not really a measurement of one’s worth as a person, it will always be on how you treat other people when you got the advantage. Got to end my journal here and time to browse some random snaps (since I can’t check all of the numerous photos for all those days of documenting) of the experience.
One thing I love about this shoot…this was done at the groom’s home and backyard…something new really and I love them for being so practical. I always think that location is just secondary on engagement shoots…the couple’s smiles, sunny attitudes and good vibes will always be on top of the list…the rest will be the work of the team that you hired for the shoot.
what makes this wedding special – this is the church wedding of eric and cris…their renewal of vows after 10 years, 2 kids and truckloads of experience as married couple…looking at them, can’t help but think that forever is possible.
Few minutes before she puts her hair up, we shoot some “bed scenes” while she’s on her “i-woke-up-like-this” look 🙂 Bridal boudoir shoot with this beautiful bride…oh well, we leave the sexy shots to her husband’s eye only 🙂
Being able to do what you love is something to be thankful for…but what if being able to do what you love means serving people, giving hope and changing lives of street children? Honestly, I can’t imagine being that selfless, that’s why, I’m always in awe of social workers, volunteers, missionaries and the likes…and Sharon and Billy are few of those people that I have met in this lifetime, whose life will always be a wonder to me. I can only be happy when I found out about their relationship.
Sharon is the head of Children’s Garden that takes good care of street children while Billy is a missionary here in the Philippines. Can’t help but be thankful as I look back on their prenup shoot. There’s a big chance of rain on that day but it only rain after we’d finished with our shoot and the rain stopped when we shoot again at some street in Antipolo.
